Goals: Community and Confidence
An important goal of Caroline House is to break down the barriers of social and physical isolation that have kept low-income immigrant women from building better lives. They have immigrated to the United States from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Turkey, Portugal, El Salvador, Thailand, Algeria, Puerto Rico and many other countries. Although students come from different backgrounds, they share similar challenges and life circumstances. Women form a supportive community which enriches their learning experience and builds confidence.
The objective for our children’s programs is to foster cognitive, social and emotional development. School days in the preschool program are filled with learning letters and numbers, sharing stories and songs, playing outside in our backyard, and participating in many learning and play activities. After-school and summer tutoring are additional key components of our family literacy programs. We educate and nurture children to encourage them to learn and grow at our center and continue toward a future of hope and opportunity.
