In the eight years of operation, the staff has accomplished the following:

• Secured and adapted to educational use a large house at 574 Stillman Street, a blighted area of Bridgeport surrounded by abandoned and burned-out buildings.

• Committed teaching and child care staff (eight full time paid staff positions) to run an education program house with on-site childcare including
one full time Planning & Development Director, and one full-time counselor and one assistant (six School Sisters of Notre Dame and lay persons)

• Recruited and taught over 600 women from our target population English as a Second Language (ESL), during our eight years of operation. (50 women participate during each instructional year with 22 or more children in the children's program.)

• Expanded our program to include instruction in basic computer literacy, keyboarding skills, and a wide range of life resource learning programs, counseling and networking services

• Completed construction of a $90,000 addition to Caroline House, in the summer of 1997 to accommodate more participants. We generated sufficient funds to liquidate the loan for this project and it is now paid in full.
